Queer Friendships is an independent, self-funded community photography project created in Sydney.
The project is made possible by a small team of people who have generously volunteered their time, skills and care across photography, participant support, documentation and exhibition development.
Queer Friendships has also received in-kind support from Inner West Council, alongside the support of community organisations and project partners.

Lise is the creator and lead artist of Queer Friendships. They are an emerging artist working across photography, scan art and mixed media, with a practice exploring identity, intimacy, connection and queer representation.
Through Queer Friendships, they lead the photography and creative direction while coordinating the project’s production, participant experience, exhibitions and ongoing archive.
Alex supports Queer Friendships through technical and creative advice and photography assistance during photoshoots.
An experienced and qualified photographer, she contributes to lighting, photographic setup and problem-solving on set, while providing creative input into the project’s visual and practical approach.
Luka supports Queer Friendships by welcoming participants and helping foster a positive, relaxed and supportive environment throughout the photoshoot.
He is available to answer questions, offer encouragement and provide any other general support that participants or Lise may need during the experience.
Camz helps welcome participants and create a relaxed and supportive environment during Queer Friendships photoshoots.
They are there to answer questions, provide encouragement and offer gentle pose suggestions when helpful, while supporting participants throughout the photoshoot experience.
Linden documents Queer Friendships through behind-the-scenes photography and video.
Their work captures the process, atmosphere and care surrounding the photoshoots, creating a record of how the project comes together as well as the finished work.
Luka is also contributing to the creative and operational development of the Queer Friendships exhibition taking place in Sydney in October 2026, supporting the creative process, presentation, practical setup and delivery.
